August 2014 Favorites

Goodbye August. I wish you could stay a little longer. Are you kind of sad too that summer is coming to an end? :( Well, at least I discovered a lot of new products this month. Some of them have made it onto My Favorites list which I’ll be sharing with you today. :)

Make Up For Ever Artist Palette

Hands down my favorite eyeshadow palette of the month! I like how versatile the colors are. We have basic neutrals as well as some bright, jewel-toned colors, all packed neatly in one small convenient mirrored palette. The new Make Up For Ever eyeshadow formula is richly pigmented, buttery smooth, and produces zero to no fallout. Black Purple (last shade in the palette) has become my favorite purple! I can lay it on sheer for a soft sultry eye look or build it up for an intense dramatic eye. Read my full review here.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

I have recently discovered the magic of this concealer! Wow, seriously, where have I been?! This is one of the best full-coverage concealers I have tried. My shade is NC30 which blends right in perfectly with the skin tone of my under eye area. Despite being full coverage, it does not feel heavy or cakey at all. The creamy liquid is easy to spread and blend. I’m surprised to see that I can get a flawless application just by using my fingers — no Beautyblender or concealer brush needed. It lasts all day long, too! I am now a huge fan of this concealer!

Hourglass 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner

I am very impressed with the performance of this gel eyeliner. The 1.5 mm tip is ultra small and very precise. I can draw thick and thin lines as well as sharp wings with minimal effort. The “Obsidian” black is incredibly black. The formula is soft (but not too soft), smooth, and basically just glides onto the lid with zero resistance. It stays put, too, and is excellent for tight lining. The small tip effectively reaches the small areas of the eyes as well as between the root of each lash. Read my full review here.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick

First I fell in love with the immaculate design of the packaging! I picked up Lullabye which is a “sparkling iridescent magenta violet“ that makes a statement lip color when applied at its full opacity. For an everyday pink lip color, Lullabye can be applied sheer, too. Its high glitter content may cause a slight gritty feeling but I barely feel anything if I prime my lips first. There are so many bold colors in this Studded Kiss line and I am seriously thinking of picking up some neutral shades to see if they are just as spectacular as the bolder shades. Simplehuman Sensor Mirror

This has to be the most expensive makeup tool in my collection! Everything about this mirror screams quality. The mirror glass is incredibly clear; the 5x magnification is extremely efficient allowing you to see every detail of your makeup; the bright LED lighting equipped with the Tru-lux light system simulates the natural sunlight and displays true colors of your makeup without a yellowish tint seen in most ordinary light bulbs; and the ring light ensures your whole face is well lit without dim spots. It also operates cordless to keep your desk clutter-free! Read my full review here.

Hey Kristen! The circular light has to be one of my most favorite features of the mirror! I love how my whole face is lit up “evenly” at once without any shadows or dim spots. :)

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer is my one and only concealer everrr. I am using the NW30 for my under eye circles. I used to apply it with a brush but I’ve been lazy so fingertip application is better. Hehehe.

I already own a LED mirror in metallic pink but this Superhuman is really stunning. I wish i have the money though.

    September, here we come!!!

Yay to the MAC concealer!!! I can’t believe I didn’t discover it sooner! What a great discovery this month for sure! Love it!

Hey Jaa! That’s it, I am going to buy the hourglass eyeliner this week. It sounds great and so reasonably priced. I also like your mirror but it is a bit too expensive for now. Maybe later when I do up my makeup table:)

Yay! Do it, Grace! You *will* love it!!! :) As for the mirror, maybe you can wait for the Sephora sale? I mean, it’s only going to be 20% off but that’s still $40 off! Not bad at all! :)

OOh I likey the picks but I likey the layout of the picks even more lol. I’m a huge fan of your photography Jaa! way to go:) That shade that you have form Kat von D is probably the only one that I like. The others that I’ve seen on Temptalia just haven’t been as great ( or gotten as good reviews!). My august favourites (part 2) are up now but Im lemming the Hourglass 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner which I do not need AT ALL, but ….want ..a LOT lol

Hey Dee! Thank you so much!

Lullabye really stands out from the others for me simply because I love this shade of pink! :) I think it will look really great on your complexion! :)

      But we can’t have enough eyeliners…. ;D Another one wouldn’t hurt!!! ;D ;D ;D

Hi Jaa! Somehow I haven’t tried that MAC Concealer either (only the Select Cover Up). Now, I really want to try it! I’m also really sad that summer is coming to an end. :( The season really flew by!

    1. says: Jaa

Oh Carolyn! You must try the concealer! You will looooooooooooooove it!!!! ;D

I haven’t tried the Select Cover Up… is it good? How does it compare to the CdP concealer?
