And here’s the last piece to conclude my Chanel Spring 2014 Notes de Printemps Collection! I’m really surprised there haven’t been that many reviews on this lipstick and I wonder why! It is such a gorgeous everyday pink color and I thought for sure it was going to be widely talked about! Well, here, let me show you how really pretty Dédicace is. :)
Dédicace (59) is a cool, blue-toned medium pink with fine shimmer but the shimmer becomes unnoticeable once on the lips. The creamy and moisturizing formula has a little bit of slip but still glides on with ease, leaving lips looking fuller with a soft luminous shine. It does not emphasize dry patches at all, in fact, it seems to smooth them out and condition them. It has an old-school smell of lipstick that I’m not too crazy about but it does not bother me as it vanishes quickly upon application.
The coverage is semi-opaque and buildable to full in a just few swipes. The color distributes evenly with each pass and I did not notice the existing layer moving around during the layering. I did find, however, that the lipstick, when worn by itself, does not fade evenly. It tends to leave an outline around my lips (O-ring) — especially after meals — that I’m not a fan of.
Being creamy, it also tends to fall into lips lines, so to fix both issues, I like to apply it over some sort of a lip plumping primer. The primer helps fill in the fine lines and provides a base for the lipstick to adhere to, and thus lengthens the wear time of the lipstick as a result. Without primer, I do get only a short few hours of wear; with primer, the ring does not form and the wear time extends to 3-4 hours (and if I top with a lip gloss, I can easily get 5-6 hours!).
Rouge Coco formula reminds me a lot of a lip balm. Silky, moisturizing, not too soft, and not too firm. It is not completely weightless, though, but that’s a good thing! Because I prefer lipsticks with a little thicker formula in cold weather so that my lips feel more protected and covered and will not dry out!
And Dédicace has more to offer than a typical lip balm. It’s not just tinted with a pink color (a beautiful pink appropriate for any occasions if I may add!), it is a full-on lipstick that provides buildable coverage while providing a great level of moisturization to keep lips hydrated throughout the wear.
I’ve really been enjoying Dédicace for the last week. It’s a balanced pink that looks good on my complexion and it is such a safe color that pairs well with the kind of makeup I wear on a daily basis. :)
