December 2013 Favorites

Hi Everyone! How was your Holiday? Did you get a lot of presents on Christmas? What did you do on NYE? Did you go to any party or do anything fun? Do share with me, I’d love to hear all about it! :)

And as usual at the end of every month, here’s my favorite items of the last month of 2013!

Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette

It is official. The Naked3 is my most favorite of the Naked palettes! I love every single shade in this palette (well, except Dust). The colors are so wearable and they can be amped up or toned down to create anything from everyday makeup to a full on smokey. I used to steer clear of pink shadows because they never looked quite right on me but Urban Decay has made wearing pinks a reality for me again and I’m really grateful for that! Read my full review with comparison to the Naked and Naked2 here.

NARS blush in Douceur

Douceur is one of the easiest blushes to wear in my opinion. The soft pink with a hint of brown is such a gorgeous shade that I think would look flattering on any skin tones. It’s not the most pigmented blush out there but that’s also what I like about it – I don’t have to be too careful when applying! With a dense brush, it takes about 2 layers and a quick buffing to see the true color on my cheeks. I just love how the color is so neutral that it won’t clash with any makeup look I wear. Definitely one of the more versatile blush shades.

Maybelline Color Elixir Liquid Color Balm in Hibiscus Haven

I can’t get enough of Hibiscus Haven! Such a bright, lovely pink that is wearable and doesn’t look stark on me. This liquid lipstick feels a lot like applying a melted lip balm on the lips but with the strong color intensity of a lipstick. It’s very long-lasting, super moisturizing, and all around just perfect for a Winter lip product. I own 2 more shades of this (Breathtaking Apricot and Vision in Violet) and I love wearing them too but I find myself reaching for Hibiscus Haven the most as it goes better with my normal makeup than the other two. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+

This lotion is my skin saver this month! As much as I love my Diorsnow Fresh Creme Global Transparency Day, it doesn’t cut it for the cold weather as it’s not moisturizing enough so I started mixing it with a few drops of the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ and wow, no more dry, flaky patches! I don’t really like to use it during Summer months, though, as I find it to be too greasy but for Winter, it’s perfect! Plus, it’s so affordable. They come in 3 different sizes but mine shown here is a sample I received in a GWP. There’s no doubt I’m going to pick up the big bottle once I run out!

Sonia Kashuk Shimmering Crème Shadow

I have had this metallic gold shimmering shadow pencil for more than a year now and I still can’t believe how soft it still is (creamy products usually dry out and become dry and hard over time). It’s the perfect gold color to use on the inner corner or lower lash line. It can also be used as a base for eyeshadow powder, too. Such a lovely formula and comes with a budget-friendly price tag! It is included in a set called Blink Of An Eye that has another shadow pencil in silver and a brown eyeliner. The silver is gorgeous as well but I prefer the gold a little more. Too bad it is not sold separately and that there aren’t more colors. I’d have liked to see something like metallic pink or light purple! :)

So, that’s it for December Favorites! I hope you enjoyed my picks! (I was actually thinking of doing a more special edition of this – something like My Favorite Product of the Year 2013 or something but I think it’s still too early for me considering my site has only been around for 5 months. Well, maybe next year. :D)

And….. *drumrolls*… Happy New Year Everyone!! I hope 2014 brings you lots of joy, happiness, and success! :D

  1. Happy New Year, Jaa! :D Woohoo! Hibiscus Haven FTW! I really have barely even played around with the Naked 3 palette since I got it and I really need to. I’ve been on a bit of a shadow break lately and have only been doing really minimal makeup (tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara, lip balm – done) but Naked 3 is in my sights! I do have to say it sure makes getting ready in the morning SO much easier when you’re not blending out a 4-step eye! I’ve been early to work lately! Who knew?! ;) Happy 2014 to you, my friend! <3

Omg, how can you resist playing with the Naked3? I was like all over it the first day I got it! Ha ha!

Speaking of tinted moisturizers, what are some of your faves? I’m itching to try something new….

I’ve been sporting minimal makeup too lately… but I still get to work late.. lol. I must be doing something wrong. :D

      1. Ha ha! Your last line cracked me up! I swear, sometimes “minimal makeup” takes just as long to apply as 4-step smokey eyes! Aside from the NARS Pure Radiant TM, a serious #1 FAVE, I also REALLY like Clarins’ BB Cream. It has a surprising amount of coverage and just applies so smoothly. It’s pretty dreamy!
