I’ve been meaning to try Givenchy Le Rouge for a while so when they released this limited-edition piece, it seemed like a good opportunity to venture into the famous lipstick line! Part of it (or a lot of it) has to do with the couture packaging. Without it, I would have still been in my “lemming/not purchasing yet” phase! Just a word of warning, this post is going to be picture-heavy. I had a really hard time choosing what pictures to use so I took the easy way out by posting all of them! ^_^”

See what I mean about the pretty couture-inspired packaging? I am absolutely in love with it! The limited-edition Le Rouge N205 Couture Edition 15 US has a floral print design on the leather sleeve that is supposedly straight from the Givenchy runway couture collection. The brand’s logo is imprinted both on the top of the sleeve and on the side. The stud-lock accents also remain present at the bottom of the bullet as a signature Le Rouge design. As far as I know, the sleeve fits a regular Le Rouge lipstick, too, so you can replace your favorite Le Rouge lipstick’s sleeve with this one to give it an updated look anytime!

Onto the color, N205 Couture Edition 15 US isn’t a new shade. It is the same color as the 205 Fuchsia Irrésistible in the Le Rouge permanent line. It is described as a vibrant fuchsia but I see a little bit of subtle red undertones as well. It has Le Rouge signature scent, something slightly floral slightly fruity, that is very faint and almost impossible to detect during application.

I find the texture creamy and soft but slightly on the thinner side so even though N205 is highly pigmented, it still takes at least 2 layers to completely cover my natural lip color (I have pretty pigmented lips to begin with). On paler lips, opaque coverage may be seen in one pass. It applies very smoothly on the lips without bleeding, feathering, highlighting dry flakes, or settling into lip lines (unless you over-apply it). I’d describe the finish as slightly creamy satin-matte as it leaves a very subtle luminous sheen on the lips that lasts for a while post-application. For a true matte finish, simply blot slightly with a tissue. I actually like the blotted version much better!

The formula is so velvety smooth that I can apply it straight from the tube without having to prime my lips with a lip balm first. It keeps my lips fairly soft and moisturized until the removal time. I did not experience any dryness with or without a lip balm underneath. It doesn’t quite feel weightless on me but it’s not too heavy/uncomfortable to wear, either.
N205 lasts for a good 3-4 hours on me before fading gradually and evenly into a soft stain that lasts for another hour or so. It isn’t crazy long-lasting but I don’t ever feel the need to re-apply later on in the day. The color does transfer quite a bit so beware of the lipstick getting on your teeth, clothes, or coffee mug!

I love how brightening N205 is on me. It is a classic fun and flirty fuchsia that I find flattering on many skin tones. Below is 3 layers applied on my lips. The color stays pretty true to the color seen in the tube even after layering!

If fuchsia is not your color, the limited-edition couture packaging also comes in a bright coral pink shade called 202 Rose Dressing (also permanent in the regular Le Rouge line) which my friend Sunny has done a review on it. It isn’t available in the US, though, so you might have to hunt it down if you really want it!
To me, Givenchy Le Rouge N205 Couture Edition 15 US is perfect on all fronts. Beautiful packaging, flattering color, and excellent formula. Not to mention that the floral sleeve is reusable on your other Le Rouge lipstick, too! It is a lipstick truly worth having in everyone’s makeup collection!
I can see why it’s so picture heavy, what beautiful packaging and photos! Just looking at the lipstick itself it seemed a bit too dark for my liking, but on you it’s gorgeous and just my kind of fuchsia.
The color is a tad bit darker in person but with my studio lighting everything gets brightened up quite a bit! Might be best to check it in person before you buy! :)
Now this is one piece of cosmetics which is great to photograph and you did it so well.
I believe I have the shade 202, with this packaging. It is a warmer shade. I wished mine would be the cooler version. I love the last photo where you blow us a kiss :-))
Thanks, Sara! *more kisses for you* Hehe <3 Did you review the 202 on your blog? I can't seem to find it. I'd love to link to your review as well!
Oh Gosh, HOW PRETTY IS THIS ON YOU?! Now I feel the need to hunt it down LOL Since I have the case, I can just switch it :) Le Rouge is such an amazing formula, and definitely one that is worth the investment!
Thanks, Sunny! And now I need to buy 202 because of your review!!! ;)
This is gorgeous on your skin tone! And what puuuuurrrrty packaging too! I’m gonna go look for it in stores, hope it won’t be sold out…
Fingers crossed! Still available online, though! ;)
Picture perfect packaging! I wish it came in an every day shade though. I doubt I’ll be using fuchsia or bright coral on a daily basis. However, I really love how it looks on you :-)
Thanks, Lily! Since I love pink so much, I have no complaints! Hehe But yeah, it would be nice if it came in everyday color, too!
This lovely shade is available in the regular permanent line. What is limited edition here is the package, not the shade, in case anybody cannot find the LE one.
Thanks for the info, Andrea! I have already mentioned it in my review that you can find the shade in the permanent line. Glad you confirmed it! :)
Oh wow! I have the same shade in the regular line and I love it! ^_^
It’s one of the best semi-matte formulas I’ve tried. I find that it lasts a bit longer on me, but yes, can’t survive a meal unfortunately.
Yay! I bet it looks absolutely stunning on you! :)
attention to detail is everything. such a beautiful shade, packaging and everything! nice to have come across your blog jaa :) are you abroad or here in thailand?
Hi Annie! Thanks for visiting! I’ve just moved back to Thailand a few months ago! :)
Absolutely beautiful color and packaging! Good to know about the transfer of the pigments. Make sure to drink coffee first then apply :-) Gorgeous pictures!
Thanks, Amanda! How are your photos coming along? :D
What a beautiful shade! I have a small collection of Givenchy Le Rouge lipsticks, and I like to buy the LE edition (I have it in white, read, and sparkly leather, lol!) so this one is definitely on my wish list :) I love how they feel on the lips, fully opaque and intense yet very comfortable.
I plan to collect LE pieces from the brand from now on! I should have done that a lot sooner. LOL. White, red, and sparkly leather?? Show me pix! :D
OMG that is amazing. I love the color and finish.
I love how it lights up my complexion so nicely! :D
SOOOO ridiculously pretty! Luckily (or not, depends how you see it, lol) I don’t love lipsticks enough to pay the special Givenchy price. I think the colour looks just lovely up against your skin tone!
Thanks, Liz! I’m sure you already have a dupe for it since it’s basically just a classic fuchsia! I got suckered in because of the pretty packaging. LOL
Oh wow, what a gem! :-O *gasps in awe*
The color looks fantastic on you, Jaa! And the packaging, woaaaah…
I know right?! *heart eyes*
OHHH, this suits you so well!! Givenchy le rouges are one of my favorite lipstick formulas for my perpetually dry lips! Too bad we don’t have Givenchy in the Philippines. </3 </3
Oh no! Where do you normally buy their lipsticks then? Are you going to get this one? I’m hoping for a yes? Hehe
This is so pretty! I repeat, SO PRETTY! ;D
I’ve heard many good things about this line but I don’t think I have room for another saturated fuchsia pink lipstick. The sheer version of this though, I’d love to try soon!
(But the packaging… oh my my)
I agree, the color isn’t the most unique but the packaging though!! ❤❤❤
I love the color on you, but the packaging… It reminds me of my grandma´s curtains, to be honest. Of course minus the studs, but nonetheless.

LOLOLOL! Well, that’s new! ;D
You know, I’ve been the same way with these lipsticks! And you’re right, with a pretty LE packaging like this it’s the perfect time to cave and grab one. I’m really digging the fuchsia too.
Yeah I was like, OK, Givenchy, you got me on this one! ;D
Gosh, that packaging is utterly gorgeous, as is the shade! Fuchsias are my favourite and I’m a sucker for floral prints, so I may just have to snag this. Very pretty on you! xo
Do it soon before it goes out of stock again! :D I’ve never seen anyone wear fuchsia better than you, Jen! :D
I really wanted this and was going to purchase it but when I was last in Sephora it was sold out as well as online a few weeks ago or last month. I think it came back in stock at some point but by then I’d sort of let it go. Hmm…now you have me rethinking it. As always. Gorgeous photos!
Thanks, Kimmy! I know it’s been in and out of stock! But this time it seems to stay in stock! But you probably already have moved on to something else. LOL
Woah I love this color on you Jaa! :D
Thanks a lot, Divya! :)
What a beauty this is! Definitely vanity table top worthy! It’s so pretty on you. I love the smoochie kiss picture! So cute!
Haha that was a last minute thing! I was a little hesitant to post it but whatever, live a little right? LOL
