Besides makeup, I’m also an avid collector of spiral hair rings. And my long-time reader Baitoey can attest to that! :D I’ve tried a bunch of them from different brands in different sizes and colors and I find that for my type of hair (straight, slippery, medium volume and length), the smaller coils work the best. Recently I’ve had a chance to try 2 versions of the Invisibobble hair rings: Original (Cheatday collection) and Slim. Both are being reviewed today in this post. If you are new to the brand, I suggest you head over to their website and read the founder Sophie’s story. It’s pretty interesting how she came up with the idea! :)
Invisibobble hair rings
Invisibobble spiral hair rings are made of stretchy artificial resin. They can be stretched far and upon releasing will return to their original spiral shape. Superior to traditional hair elastics, these hair rings need only a few gentle twists to securely keep your ponytail/updo in place. They provide a strong, lasting grip that won’t cause headaches or stress to your hair and scalp. They are very comfortable and traceless as they don’t leave any kinks/creases/marks on your hair upon removing. They are waterproof and thus can be worn on wet or dry hair, or worn as a bracelet. They don’t snap or get tangled in your hair and can be taken out easily. If you find them loose after continued use, simply blow-dry them with hot air or place them in boiling water to shrink them back to their original size.
Original Cheatday collection

Cheatday is a limited edition collection from the Original line. The inner diameter measure 1.8 cm (0.7 inches) so it’s a pretty small ring but don’t let the number fool you as the ring can stretch out to as much as 29 cm (11.4 inches)!
Cheatday comes in 4 different colors: Crazy for Chocolate (dark brown), Donut Cream (white-neon pink), Macaron Mayhem (pastel purple), and Cookie Dough Craving (tan-warm brown). And besides the cute colors, these are actually scented to their corresponding names, too! The scent is strong and yummy upon opening the package but sadly fades over time. Each packet contains 3 hair rings that are beautifully presented on a clear plastic tray inside the cute graphic packaging. My favorite color is Cookie Dough Craving but my favorite scent is Crazy for Chocolate! :)
Now, let’s see close-up pictures of each flavor!

Invisibobble Slim in Vanity Fair

Invisibobble Slim is called the “elegant hair ring” because it is perfect for both “a stylish office hairdo” and “a bouncy evening look”. The spirals on the Slim are narrower, stronger, and denser. They are less flexible and don’t bounce back to their original size as easily as the Original. The inner diameter measures 2.7 cm (1.1 inches) and can be stretched out to about 23 cm (9 inches).
Slim provides a tighter hold than the Original which is why I prefer it on my slippery hair. Vanity Fair is a beautiful iridescent color that caught my eyes instantly. Look at the close-up picture down below and I dare you not to run out to the store and get one now! ;)

See how Original and Slim compare on my messy hair! :)

If you hair has some volume and isn’t so slippery, these rings will keep your ponytail in place all day. But if your hair is thinner, straight, or slippery like mine, you may need to adjust/tighten the ring may be once during the day. I can honestly say that, of all the spiral hair rings I’ve used, Invisibobble’s are one of the best. Their price tag may seem a little steep but they are of high quality and will last a really long time. Plus, you get 3 rings/container and that’s a pretty good deal!
At a glance, I thought this was a review about desserts and cookies! LOL. You have impressive collections! Vanity Fair looks so pretty. I guess the quality matter – I’ve only tried some no name brand but mine stretched out almost immediately. Now it is serving as a cat toy. ;p
If you put them in warm water they should bounce back to their original shape. :)
