I was looking through my blog archive last night and realized that all this time I’ve been blogging I have only reviewed one MAC lipstick! I really need to get all my MAC lipsticks together and do a big comparison post or something. But for now, let me share with you my thoughts on the Mineralize Rich lipstick. It is one of the creamier lipstick formula (or should I say creamiest) that MAC offers and for me I think it’s just perfect for cold Winter days to keep lips soft and moisturized.

MAC Mineralize Rich lipsticks come in a different packaging than regular MAC lipsticks. The color of the tube is the same kind of black but the shape of the Mineralize Rich is a little more on the bulky side. The cap closes with a satisfying click through a strong magnetic closure to keep the hydrating lipstick from drying out. Besides the bigger tube, the bullet itself is also bigger, and broader. The tip of the bullet is a little round and wide and while it doesn’t really bother me, I suspect people with thin lips may have a difficult time applying this lipstick and may need a lip brush for precision. The lipstick has a faint, familiar vanilla scent to it like most MAC lipsticks do.

Mineralize Rich lipstick formula features a 77-Mineral Moist Complex to keep lips nourished and moisturized. I’m probably not going to comment on the 77 minerals details but I can tell you this: this lipstick is super moisturizing! And non-sticky! It glides on effortlessly and feels almost like melted butter on the lips; creamy, luxurious, and comfortable to wear. It’s not completely weightless (you can definitely feel you’re wearing a lipstick) but for something that is so creamy, I would have expected it to be a little more heavy.

I picked up Divine Choice which is a lovely, cool-toned medium magenta pink. It is a little too light for my skin for everyday wear but I still wear it from time to time when I feel like I need a pop of color. With this lipstick, I always put on a lip primer first so that the creamy formula doesn’t settle into lip lines and that the light color will show its true color better. I find the color payoff to be impressive. For a melted butter, this one packs such a punch of pigment that you can practically get a full coverage in a few swipes. It leaves a glossy sheen on the lips as well but I find that the sheen wears off rather quickly within a few hours – by lunch time, there’s barely any glossy effect left. After that the finish will dry down to a non-drying, semi-matte but I find the color intensity to be just as bright and opaque as when I first apply.

Mineralize Rich lipsticks are part of the permanent range and they come in so many gorgeous shades ranging from nudes, corals, reds, to plums. They are priced a bit higher than regular MAC lipsticks but you do get a bit more product in exchange. If you have dry lips or are looking for something moisturizing, I think these would not disappoint. :)
I love a moisturizing lipstick so I will have to try a Mineralize Rich lipstick! I’m just getting over the flu so my lips are severely dried out from all the decongestion meds and constant nose blowing tissue use! I haven’t been able to wear lipstick at all this week! Oh and I would LOVE to see a MAC lipstick swatchathon here! I need to do that too but I know how time-consuming that type of post can be! I always love seeing other people’s MAC lipstick collections, too!
Aww I hope you feel better soon, Kristen! I was feeling it too a few days ago but I fought it and I drank a ton of vitamin C water and fruits and I made sure to keep warm and go to bed early and the next day I felt fine! My bf has been sick the whole week, though so I understand what you’re going through! Not fun. :( And not being able to wear lipstick at all?! Super ugh!! I hope you recover soon!! :D
Let’s do MAC lipstick swatchathon together! LOL. I need help. I was looking at my collection in my drawer this morning and then I was like, ermm… yeah… maybe next time. Ha ha.
