Summer is all about fun and bright colors! So how about we start off with some really bright corals from the MAC Playland Collection? :D

If you are not aware, MAC Playland came out about two weeks ago and the collection is full of super fun colors such as hot pink, bright cyan blue, golden yellow, olive green, and of course orange-y coral! When I visited my local MAC counter on the launch date, I literally wanted to grab everything on the display! But staying true to my commitment, I limited myself to just 2 items from the collection — Live it Up Tinted Lipglass and Genuine Orange Chromagraphic Pencil!

Live it Up Tinted Lipglass

I’d describe Live it Up (limited edition) as a super creamy bright orange! It really is the color of an orange! I love oranges so much, so naturally I want to eat it every time I wear it! ^_^ When I first saw press photos of the collection, I knew I had to have this lipglass. It’s such an unusual color and I didn’t have anything like it in my collection.
It is extremely pigmented for a lip gloss product. It goes on partially opaque in a single pass and I am really pleased with the super vibrant color payoff. It applies smoothly and evenly but it also settles into lip lines and leave quite a streaky appearance.
It can be worn sheer for a hint of “coral” if applied thinly with a lip brush. Similar to most MAC lip products, Live it Up has a sweet vanilla scent that doesn’t linger. The formula is slightly hydrating but I wouldn’t rely on it alone to keep my lips conditioned. I do get about 4-5 hours of wear time, which is quite long for a lip gloss — thanks to the sticky factor!
Genuine Orange Chromagraphic Pencil

Genuine Orange (permanent), though has the word orange in it, doesn’t come off as a true orange color when swatched and applied on the lips. I’m a little disappointed but it still is a nice and unique color for a lip liner. I’d describe the shade as a heavily yellow-toned coral and you will clearly see the strong “yellow” tint in bright artificial light. In natural daylight, the orange tint will come through better and be less yellow.
The texture falls on a creamy matte side that dries instantly to a dry matte. It has a pretty good color payoff that is easily buildable to an opaque finish. The application is overall smooth and does not tug, provided you apply it on preconditioned lips.
Chromagraphic pencils are a multipurpose product that you can use anywhere on the face, not just on the lips, but for Genuine Orange, it is advised not to use near the eye area.

Did you pick up anything from the collection? If so, please share with me what made it into your basket! :)
Wow, that’s a pretty bright combo!
It’s not as bad in daylight but still, pretty bright! :D
Live it up looks great on you Jaa! I am not so sure about the chromagraphic pencil on the lip! what other used could you have of it?
I’m not 100% liking the pencil, either. At least not on the lips. Maybe you can draw a mini heart or star on the face? Under the eyes perhaps, or above the cheekbone. I think it would look cute. :)
Whoa – it’s amazing what computer monitors can do for colour recognition – I can’t see coral at all in these! I just see yellow orange and tangerine :-P Maybe it’s my orange-phobia being alerted by orange tones and screaming ‘NO! Look away! Quickly!’ :-D
Love your close up photo (as usual, you miserably talented person, you ;-))
Both definitely lean heavily on the yellow orange side! So, no, it’s not your computer, or mine, lol. Then add some really bright studio light and there you have it — super mega ultra yellow orange!
Oh wow, the combination of the pencil and the gloss is pretty bold :-O I’d be too much of a wuss to wear that. But I would however wear the lipglass on its own.
I didn’t expect this at all when I purchased them. In my mind, it was a perfect combo for a nice coral, in real life .. eh.. not so much! Haha.
OMG these are SO bright! I don’t think I own anything remotely similar! Bold picks, Jaa!
The very reason I bought them! I didn’t have anything similar! :D I just have to use them separately since the combo doesn’t look quite appealing! :-/
I love the lip glass! What a beautiful color, and super versatile. I picked up 2 of the Casual Colours from this collection since I missed out on them the last time they were released and was so disappointed! I’m so happy I have them now. They’re both excellent cheek/lip colors and stood up to the Puerto Rican heat on my honeymoon! Win! Did you get anything from the Alluring Aquatics?? OMG, the packaging with the water droplets!! Heavenly! ALL but 1 of the lipsticks were sold out by the time I shopped, but I was able to pick up one of the bronzers, a tinted lipglass, Siren Song lipstick, and one of the Pearlglide Intense liners in Black Line (black with gold pearl)! I really want Goddess of the Sea lipstick and plan to hunt it down at various retailers when it launches next week! It’s a muted purple cremesheen! Mama needs! ;)
I only bought a lip liner from this collection, lol! I’m so overwhelmed by MAC collections to tell you the truth! I can’t keep up!! LOL! I might get a backup of Black Line and Black Swan. :) Can never have enough Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners!
A girl can never have too many Pearlglides!! That should be on a coffee mug, LOL! :D
