Makeup Minis Vol.21

Makeup Minis is where I feature deluxe samples I received with my online and/or in-store purchases. I'll give you a short description of the product, my initial impression and whether I plan to purchase a full-sized version. I am only listing 3 items per volume to keep the post short and fun! :)

Dior One Essential Intense Skin Detoxifying Booster Serum

One Essential Intense Skin Detoxifying Booster Serum

How about a face serum that promises to eliminate toxins and regenerate skin cells while instantly adding radiance? I can't say I've seen any noticeable improvements on the look of my skin but it might be because I haven't used it long enough. The formula itself has a pearlescent white color and a light, fresh scent and texture that absorbs instantly — very pleasant to use. It is fairly moisturizing and leaves no residue on the skin, just a light hydrating feel. I really like that I can follow with my moisturizer right away!

La Mer The Reparative Body Lotion

La Mer
The Reparative Body Lotion

This one is an anti-aging body lotion that supposedly renews and smooths the skin upon contact! I LOVE everything, well, almost everything about this lotion. It is so light, almost serum-light, and spreads so easily. It takes no time to sink in and you literally can get dressed right away as it doesn't leave behind any greasy or sticky residue. I also love how it leaves my skin extra soft and smooth but one thing I'm not too crazy about is the scent. It's a pretty strong and lingering kind of scent that I unfortunately can't get along with.

Probably not due to the scent

Kat Von D Immortal Lash 24 Hour Mascara

Kat Von D
Immortal Lash 24 Hour Mascara

Having thin and sparse lashes, I am very picky about my mascara so when I first saw the wand of this one, I expected not to like it! The brand calls it a Power Spiral 3-in-1 brush that lengthens, curls, and coats every lash. Well, I did witness all 3 aspects on my lashes! The spikey bristles somehow are able to separate and define each of my lash perfectly. The formula is intense black, non-clumpy, non-brittle, and easy to remove. The best part? It holds curls really well and doesn't flake or smudge the entire (hot and humid) day!

I sampled the Star one once and I loved it! Didn’t purchase the full-size, though, because I have sooo many mascara samples in my stash that I want to go through!

They are fun to photograph and write about! I love writing this series but lately I just haven’t had time to test more of them. My skin has become very sensitive after the move, too, so I try not to test too many products at once.

I love trying samples of products, especially more expensive ones. That mascara sounds really good. I think it’s safe to say that Kat Von D’s beauty line is really really good! I just bought another Kat Von D eyeliner :-)

Ahh too bad about the La Mer scent! I haven’t used anything from La Mer and I can’t say I know what their products smell like. The mascara looks promising tho!

I haven’t used too many products from them but I know I kind of like the scent of the Moisturizing Soft Cream. :D

  3. Too bad that that La Mer body lotion smells so overpowering. I personally like strong scents. I’m currently rotating three body butters from Victoria’s Secret and they are scented as f*ck but they smell soooooooooooooo divine…

  4. I’ve been hoping to see a Beauty Minis post from you! Yay! :D Don’t you hate it when you love a product but the scent is too much? I’m glad you found a new mascara love, though! I had a sample of this CD One Essential serum but I wasn’t in love with the alcohol content. It the 4th ingredient and I could always smell it when I used it. The last sample I fell in love with was the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream! It works on the body, hands, and face, sinks in beautifully, and softens skin like a gangsta. :)

Oh how I miss the FAB Ultra Repair Cream! It was my staple back when I was in the US! I used it mainly as a hand cream and it worked wonders! I’ll always associate it with a “Winter in the US” product. LOL
