Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Review & Swatches

Not a week goes by without a Marc Jacobs lipstick review at Hello Jaa! ;) Last week I featured the reformulated New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel in Have We Met?, this week I bring you a Le Marc Lip Crème in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang which has a completely different texture — more pigmented, more opaque, more creamy, more mature. Let’s take a look!

I recently traded in 100 Sephora points for a mini-size of this Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Le Marc Lip Crème. While also comes in a sleek, black lacquered tube with a round silver knob and brand’s logo similar to a full-size, the mini-size lacks a magnetic closure. It simply clicks down to the base to close. The lipstick bullet also has a different shape; it’s not as rounded, and has a traditional-style lipstick tip instead. I tried to sniff the bullet but I couldn’t detect the familiar delicate vanilla scent that belongs to the full-size version.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is described as a “baked rose” or “dusty rose” shade. To me, it’s a combination of both, and with a slight hint of mauve thrown in. It has a true crème texture that glides easily on the lips while depositing a rich, saturated color payoff in one pass. It has just enough slip for a smooth glide without the color sliding off the lips. The application offers a near-opaque coverage in one pass (see following picture) and with additional layers, it manages to cover discoloration on my lips entirely. The color is very true to what you see in the tube when applied, which is a shade or two darker than my natural lip color so I’d categorize this shade as an MLBB shade for me. :)

The smooth, velvety crème texture feels absolutely wonderful on the lips. Unlike most crème formulas, Le Marc Lip Crème doesn’t just sit on but rather envelops your lips with a gorgeous satin-matte finish with just enough shine to prevent the formula from being too matte. It does not accentuate lip imperfections in any way, nor does it feel heavy or cakey post-layering.

I typically get about 3 hours of solid wear on my bare lips before the color starts to fade to a soft stain that extends the wear time for another hour or so. I didn’t experience any dryness on my lips during initial wear but I certainly did feel it just slightly towards the end. It wasn’t an uncomfortable feeling by any means, it’s just noticeable.

Here’s how it looks on me. I think the color looks pretty nice and polite without tapping into the “too-mature” territory. I’m also wearing Marc Jacobs The Starlet 204 Style Eye-Con No.7 Plush Shadow Palette (review | US$59 | Sephora) on my eyes. :)

Have you tried anything from Marc Jacobs Beauty yet? I have to say, I’m loving the brand more and more with every makeup purchase I make from them. It is pretty certain at this point that I will not stop at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. My first full-size Le Marc Lip Crème will either be Infamous (soft peony) or Clara (bold rose), or possibly both! :)

I love this shade on you! I’ve tried their eyeshadow palette in Lolita and a lip gloss from them. I liked them both well enough but the colors weren’t unique enough for me to justify buying more. The eyeshadows are amazing though–creamy, pigmented without fall out

Yeah, they have one of the better eyeshadow formulas for sure! I was thinking of picking up Lolita when it first came out but I didn’t find the colors too exciting. Well, you know I love me bold colors. Hehe I picked up the Starlet and the Vamp instead and both are amazing!

Yeah, I wanted to be safe since it’s the first time I tried their shadows. Really buttery smooth and pigmented. You look good in bold colors so I don’t think it’s a bad choice xD Starlet and Vamp look like good choices. Do you have reviews on them? :O

Such a wearable shade! My skin tone pulls out all the pink in a lipstick – I wonder if this will look pinker on me. If not, then I’m getting it :-)

It might! From swatches I’ve seen online, the color seems to vary quite a bit from person to person. I think mine looks to be on the “pink” side more than everyone else’s!

Good thing you got a sample! ;) There are new 100 point rewards out now! Are you redeeming anything? I just redeemed 2x MJ eyeliners, a KvD mascara, and a Clinique moisturizer last night!

  4. Seems like a universaly flatterig color, I like it a lot on you!
Those were Sephora points well spend, I’d say.
The Formula sounds awesome, I am a big fan of “What you see is what you get”.

      1. I don’t think so. There are so many Lipsticks waiting to be used, and I just bought three more of a brand I can’t get in Germany, so I’ll have to cut back a little.

So pretty on you, Jaa, and it makes you younger! So fresh! Must be also the pink top? Pink is your color!!! I can see it now! hehehe.

I have been singing Bang Bang of Jessie J for the last few days, btw! lol.

    1. says: Jaa

YES YES YES MORE PINK PLEASE! Haha .. it has to be certain kind of pink, though! LOL sing louder, I can’t hear you on this side of the world! ;)

Pretty! Marc Jacobs is really a fantastic brand. I only have their eyeshadows and one eyeliner but the quality is amazing. As far as the lip color, I think I would like it on myself too. I think we have a similar taste in lip products.

    1. says: Jaa

I wish I had enough funds to buy everything from the brand. LOL I think their makeup quality is truly exceptional! :)

I have to say I feel you this…that after making some of my first MJ purchases, I’m thinking of going back for more. Your description of this was on point. Sophisticated shade that’s also a little fun. xo

That’s the thing about Marc Jacobs makeup! It keeps you wanting more! :D What’s next on your list? I’m thinking of the new brush that just came out. :)

  8. says: Natasja

Absolutely gorgeous! I love how it matches with your shirt too btw. I wanted to say congrats on you being noticed by the other brands too :D Go Jaa, Go Jaa. March is going to be your month too :D xx

OMG Jaa….I swatched this in store yesterday and it looks TOTALLY different on me..and not in a nice way lol. I loved the texture but other than Boy Gorgeous i didnt love any of the colours enough to buy them and I have colours similar to Boy Gorgeous..so I passed. LOVELY LOVELY texture tho. I was hoping theyd have a mini there for points but they didnt:(

  10. Love this shade, Jaa! Looks amazing on you. :)

I got Core Cora last week in Spain and, while I still have to test it properly, I’m already in love with the formula and colour. And the sleek look of the tube, as well.

Glad that with the quality they offered, Marc Jacob is building itself as a niche brand in makeup.
