Words cannot describe how happy I was to find this little pencil on my recent visit to Sephora! I’ve been looking for a good white pencil that is safe to use on the lips for a while and I finally found it! :)
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Cosmetic Colour Pencil comes in 12 shades — most of them are safe to use on eyes, lips, and body, but there are a few colors that can be used on lips and body only. The one I purchased is called Feathered — a true white — and it is eye, lip, and body-safe. It’s a basic pencil that requires sharpening and you can really sharpen it to a really pointy tip without creating too much wastage.
It is advertised as a long-wearing multipurpose pencil — you can use it as an eyeliner (along the lash line and waterline), lip primer, lip liner, and basically anywhere else you desire but I picked up Feathered for the sole purpose of a lip primer. The fact that I have fairly pigmented lips, I always “prime” them with a primer that would neutralize my natural lip color before applying a lipstick, especially those light-colored lipsticks that I would not be able to get their true color to show up otherwise.
The formula of Feathered is comfortable to wear even though it is definitely “drier” and more matte than the rest of the shades. I find that when applied on dry, bare lips, it can drag and cling on to dry patches, so I make sure to moisturize my lips with a good lip balm first, blot off excess oil, and apply Feathered. Conditioned lips aids the formula to glide on more smoothly and makes smudging easier.
I normally apply Feathered on the inside of my lips (top and bottom), then I press my lips together gently, and smudge/spread out to cover the entire lips with my finger. It smudges really well due to its slightly soft and creamy texture. I then wait a few minutes for it to set before topping with my lipstick. I love how pigmented Feathered is. With a white base like this, you can make any color pop!
The staying power is brilliant. It lasts well on me and helps prolong the wear of my lipstick, too. I did not notice any drying feeling during or after wear.
Even though I bought it to use as a lip primer, I have tried it as an eyeliner, too, and it works like a charm (although I wish it was a little bit more opaque). It doesn’t really stay on the waterline, though, as it seems to fade within a good few hours like all my other liners that claim to stay put on waterline do. I don’t usually use white on the waterline too much anyway as I find it too stark.
Occasionally, I also use Feathered on the inner corner to brighten up the eye area and it looks great there! I also sometimes line it above my usual black liner to make the line more interesting. It’s actually a true multitasking product. :)
I think I’ll pick up a few more colors next time I’m over at Sephora. I’m looking at Anime (neon pink), Hoochie (magenta), and Trick (mid-toned beige). Anime and Hoochie would make such a statement lip color while Trick looks like a great nude base. And if you are looking for a clear/invisible shade, they make one, too, and it’s called Anti-Feathered. :)

Hey Jaa, this is interesting! I’ve never thought about priming my lips with a white pencil! I do have moderately pigmented lips, but instead of rectifying the situation somehow, I just look for pigmented lipsticks LOL
Haha I do the same sometimes, Sunny! It’s becoming rare for me not to prime my lips, though, at least it will help with the longevity of the lipstick. :)
Wow that’s something I haven’t seen in action. Would like to see what difference a white pencil would make under lipstick. My lips are medium pink never thought about priming them before.
I was going to post a picture of my super white primed lips but it just looks too funny so I didn’t bother! LOL. If you ever decide to try, let me know how it works out for you! :)
