A quick & simple look using Sephora 10 HR Wear Perfection Foundation, Smoothing & Brightening Concealer, and MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Contour Trio (Including Review & Swatches)

TGIF! Wow, this week has gone by so fast! With my full time job and this blog, I barely have time to breathe! Since my real life lately has been so hectic, my makeup life has been a little less experimental as I don't have enough time in a day to spend doing complicated looks. So today I thought it would be fun to share with you my quick and simple makeup look that I've been wearing a lot as of late. I used products that are affordable and of good quality from the Sephora Collection brand. This post is going to be picture-heavy so apologies in advance!

Sephora 10 HR Wear Perfection Foundation

Sephora 10 HR Wear Perfection Foundation is an oil-free, long-lasting foundation with a buildable, medium coverage and a velvet-matte finish. It's packaged in a classic glass bottle with a dispensing pump. It is scent-free and is infused with beneficial ingredients such as Hyaluronic acid and antioxidant Vitamin E. The texture is thick and cream-like but surprisingly thins out a lot once you start blending. It blends amazingly well on the skin and never feels heavy or cakey at all on me.

The color I have is 23 Natural Beige which is a perfect match for my current skin. It dispenses slightly orange-y initially but once applied on the skin, it becomes more natural especially after I follow with the rest of my makeup. I didn't experience any oxidization with it.

The part I like most about this particular foundation is it leaves such a natural, healthy skin-like finish despite the thick formula. It doesn't cover everything but it certainly smooths and evens out discolorations on my face. My complexion appears less textured and more flattering with subtle luminosity as in the photo shown below. It plays well with dry spots, too, and I have no problems applying it under my eye area without it creasing.

Staying power and oil-control are decent. I feel that to get a full 10-hour wear as advertised, I have to prime my face first, and also set with powder and setting spray. This foundation starts to fade on me by the 6-hour mark (more evidently on my oily T-zone).

I think this is a pretty good everyday foundation — enough coverage to disguise imperfections but still offers skin-smoothing effect. The price point is excellent and the shade range is impressive (37 shades to choose from!).

Sephora Smoothing & Brightening Concealer

This is one tricky concealer to use! I'm talking the pen's twisting mechanism. Sometimes I find myself twisting and twisting and nothing would come out, then all of a sudden everything comes out in a big blob on the brush tip! Frustrating at times I'll admit but I'll let this small annoyance slide. Because the formula is foolproof!

The color I have is Clair Light which is really light for my skin so I reserve it for under eye highlighting/concealing only. It performs as the name suggests as it both smooths out the texture as well as brightens my whole under eye area so I look much more awake after use. The formula is lightweight yet provides such a strong brightening effect as seen in the swatch above! A little truly goes a long way with this full-coverage concealer.

It leaves a super long-lasting, smoothing matte finish. The formula tends to crease a little in the beginning (more so when over-applied) but once you blend it out and set with powder, it stays crease-free for the rest of the day. If you prefer a hydrating concealer, this one is not for you but if you want a heavy-duty concealer with a strong highlighting effect and excellent staying power, I think you'll be very impressed with this one.

Side note about the brush applicator: while precise, it's actually pretty stiff so I recommend fanning it out on the back of your hand prior to application. I usually just dab it on and use my ring finger to blend, much easier and more gentle on the skin.

Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Contour Trio

Who wouldn't like a practical-sized compact with a blush, bronzer, and highlighter all in one?! This is what's so amazing about the Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Contour Trio. You have everything you need to color, brighten, and sculpt your face with in one portable compact.

The baked formula is supremely smooth and blendable as you'd expect. It supposedly contains “Akoshine Mediterranean sea coral, green tea extract, and minerals” for added radiance on the skin. The color featured here is called Sweet where the highlighting shade is of a subtle, pale champagne pink, the blush a medium coral-rosy pink, and the bronzer a golden bronze-y brown.

The blush and bronzer have a matte-satin finish whereas the highlighter has a subtle shimmery effect of the baked formula. The pigmentation varies between shades as I find myself having to layer the highlighter and bronzer for a more noticeable result. The blush is of good color payoff and doesn't require more than a layer or two for a strong rosy-cheek effect. Additionally I wouldn't use the bronzer to contour as the name implies because I find it to have an unnatural orange undertone. I like to use it for adding warmth to the skin around the perimeter of my face better.

For me, this is a steal on the price as you get 3 good-performing products for now only $11! The only small con I found is that you have to use a rather smaller brush to pick up individual colors but if you like to combined all three together and apply, then I say swirl away! :)

A simple makeup look

In this super simple makeup look, I applied a thin layer of the Sephora 10 HR Wear Perfection Foundation in 23 Natural Beige all over my face and layered more with emphasis on the redness around my nose and acne marks on my cheeks and chin. I followed with the Sephora Smoothing & Brightening Concealer in Clair Light under my eye area for a lovely brightening effect. I finished with the Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Sculpting Contour Trio in Sweet where I applied the blush shade on the apples of my cheeks as well as on my eyelids, the highlighting shade lightly on my cheekbones, and the bronzer shade all around the perimeter of my face to add warmth to the skin.

All 3 products mentioned here are permanent and can be purchased online and in store at Sephora. They often have great gems in their collection that I tend to overlook. Which reminds me that I need to check out their brand more often!
