Are you headed to #Coachella Weekend 2? If so, don’t forget to stop by the Sephora air-conditioned beauty patio at the festival where you can learn how to create a Coachella-inspired look and/or play with new makeup trends! You will also be able to get your own temporary tattoos as well as rehydrate your sun-soaked skin with their famous Fiber Mask face treatment right there at the tent! Wonder if the tattoos or the face masks are for you? Well, for the tattoos, I vote yes! They are so much fun! As for the face masks, if you don’t mind stripping your makeup for the treatment, I say go for it! They really help keep the skin balanced and moisturized against the hot sun! :)

Sephora Fiber Face Masks

Sephora currently has the following masks available (US$6 a piece) to target different skin concerns:

Lingzhi Mask [●]: Creates the appearance of smoother, plumper, and younger-looking skin.
Lotus Mask [●]: Refreshes tired skin and reduces signs of strain and fatigue.
Honey Mask [●]: Nourishes and balances to soothe and refresh dry or sensitive skin.
Pearl Mask [●]: Perfects and brightens with natural-origin pearl to create high luminosity.
Ginseng Mask [●]: Tones and energizes while providing a tightening effect for a plumped and supple complexion.
Green Tea Mask [●]: Mattifies and purifies to soothe skin, absorb sebum, and reduce the appearance of outbreaks.
Rose Mask [●]: Provides deep moisture and brightening properties through natural rose extract.
Pomegranate Mask [●]: Awakens, energizes, and protects the skin with antioxidant-rich natural pomegranate extract.

Each mask is packaged in a bright-colored, half-disc-shaped foil with an outer packet of the same color. What a fun and colorful packaging especially once you put all of them together on display! The mask itself is folded neatly into a square shape inside but a word of advice: do be careful when unfolding it or you may risk tearing the mask! It’s made of strong fibers but without care it could still tear.

The mask runs slightly large. On my face, it extends well into my hairline, inner ears, and under the chin. I’m afraid those with a smaller face may find it a little too big though it has eye and nose cutouts as well as slits to help you adjust it to the shape of your face more easily. It also has small Sephora logos (skinny “S”) embossed all over the sheet, which is not a big deal, but once you remove the mask from your face, you are left with tons and tons of the logo indentations on your face (think “pillow face” but with Sephora logos instead)! Kind of funny! :D No worries, though, as they gradually go away within 5-10 minutes but if you are going to put on your makeup right away, you may need an extra time to wait for the skin to get rid of them.

Also be watchful when you rip open the foil as the content inside is very wet and slippery. The mask is soaked in liquid and there is excess in the foil (keep it!). To use, simply apply the mask onto a cleansed, dried face, adjust, and leave it on for 15 (or 30) minutes. During which, you’ll feel a cooling and soothing sensation emerging from the mask. Try this: store your sheet masks in the fridge at least an hour prior to the session for extra cooling effect! :)

The mask stays on and stays nicely moist on the face throughout the “pampering” period. Once the time’s up, just remove the mask and massage the excess (that I asked you to keep!) onto the face, rub it in gently, and then go on about your day or night. It leaves a slightly tacky feeling on the skin but not to the point where it feels uncomfortable. I usually apply the mask before bed anyway so the tackiness doesn’t bother me one bit. Sephora suggests not rinsing the face afterwards to let the “active ingredients” sink in and repair your skin while you sleep.

I was sent the Pomegranate mask and Rose mask to try. They smell like pomegranate and rose, respectively, but it’s a very, very mild scent and you might not even notice it at all. It’s not a fruity scent, either, but more of perfume-y type.

  • The Pomegranate one is supposed to “awaken, energize, and protect the skin with antioxidant-rich natural pomegranate extract“. Obviously I can’t say much about the long-term benefit but I did feel my skin becoming energized and awake after use! This one is really great for perking up tired skin after a long day!
  • The Rose one is supposed to “provide deep moisture and brightening properties through natural rose extract“. I did not see any brightening effect (nor did I expect to!) but my face felt extremely supple and moisturized afterwards! I didn’t follow with my skincare routine and basically went to bed with just the excess of the mask on and when I woke up, my skin still felt super soft and hydrated! No dryness in sight and the best part is it seemed to help calm my active acne that I had on the side of my cheeks, too! :)

I’m planning to stock up on a few more of these. I’ll definitely purchase more of the Rose one and maybe try the Pearl one since it claims to have a brightening effect as well as adding luminosity to the skin!

Now what about some body arts to complete your experience at the festival? I don’t know about you but I’m too chicken to get a real tattoo! These temporary ones come in handy (no commitment!) and you have options to wear them as tattoos or as jewelry.

Sephora Shine Beautifully Metallic Gold Temporary Tattoos is a set of 17 tattoos in super fun and trendy designs. I love the metallic gold sheen of these because they reflect sunlight so magically! They are really beautiful in person and I encourage you to check them out at the Sephora patio (or in store for those who didn’t make it to the festival!).

They are super easy to apply. All you have to do is cut out the design that you want, remove the clear film on one side, apply the design on the (clean and dry) skin face down (white back paper up), wet the tattoo with damp cloth or droplets of water and keep rubbing for about 10-20 seconds to let the tattoo adhere to the skin, then gently peel the back paper off to reveal the beautiful art!

Below I’m wearing the “love” design! :)

I’ve been wearing it for more than 2 days now (through humidity and shower) and the tattoo is still intact! I’m afraid I may have to use an oil remover to remove them! :)

They feel virtually weigthless without raised edges. They basically become one with your skin and you won’t feel anything at all. Although they look sort of slightly wrinkle-y up close but from a normal distance, they just look shimmery and sparkly! I think I’ll wear the dot design around my wrist tomorrow as a bracelet. I can’t think of where I should wear the giant palm tree one yet — maybe along the upper arm? These tattoos are pure love and just plain fun, I’m definitely looking to buy more! :) Hopefully Sephora will come out with a rose gold version soon — I’d totally be all over it!

I’m on a sheet mask mode as well! So much fun for nighttime pampering! :) I’d never get a permanent tattoo – too chicken! And what if I don’t like the design later on?! I think I’ll stick with temporary ones for now. ;D

First of all, congrats on Sephora sending you products for consideration, that’s a big deal!

I would love to try both. I am not sure where I’d wear the tattoos but the masks- yes, please!

Thanks, Agata! :) These tattoos are more wearable than I initially thought! They look really pretty on. Trust me, try one and you’ll be hooked! :)

I am testing My Beauty Diary masks right now and I agree with you. Their sheet material is much thinner than the Sephora’s ones but they’re also smaller in size. Can’t have it all I guess! :)

  2. Wow I had no idea Sephora did face masks! I might get my friend to pick some up for me when she heads overseas.

Those metallic tattoos are so popular these days, I’ve got some at home (different brand) but haven’t tried it yet.

I didn’t realize they did, either! :) I think they are great and worth checking out! I’m all about metallic tattoos right now. Do you have any suggestions?

I got the Pearl mask for my mom last evening. I’ll have to ask her if she likes it. Did you end up buying more of the Rose/Pomegranate mask? So many options to choose from! Thanks for the extra cooling tip by placing in the fridge and storing the excess for massaging on later!

I haven’t got one for myself, in the meantime I splurged on the GlowGlam Mud!

I have the Glamglow Super Mud Clearing Treatment and I absolutely love it! Did you get the same one? I’d love to know what your mom thinks about the Sephora Pearl mask! :) And yes, I bought a few more of the Rose one. :)

Yip, I have the same one! I used it once and it was fantastic….the open vacuuming pores out made me gasp. Haha. It helped bring all those naughty blackheads to the surface. I went for my facial today and the lady didn’t have much extracting to do. I love the product. Next time I think I might try out the Tingling and Exfoliating mask (the black container). I also have the glamglow eye mask and it is superb. Instantly you feel the area around the eyes to be tight. Amazing stuff.

My mom didn’t rave about the Pearl Mask – don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Lol. She usually isn’t the kind to rave about stuff. I think I’ll have to try it out and let you know myself!
