Question of the week
What are popular makeup trends in your country and do you follow them?
MELISSA | Switzerland | Kiss & Make-up
To be honest, I don’t think there’s such a thing as typically Swiss make-up or typically Swiss make-up trends. But even if there was I wouldn’t blindly follow the trends. I always do my own thing when it comes to make-up. Sure, sometimes I’ll get inspired by a new trend and sometimes I’ll take bits and pieces of a popular look to create my own look, but I don’t really believe in full-on copy pasting when it comes to make-up. It’s all about being unique and being yourself in the end.
ERIN | USA | Clever Girl Reviews
Being tan and bronzed is an American standard trend that I don’t follow!
SUNNY | Belgium | Mostly Sunny Blog
This is an interesting question for me to answer. Since I am not Belgian, I actually talked to some Belgian friends just to make sure my observation is not biased.
The main makeup trend here is minimal. Makeup might be worn, but almost always in a very minimal way. Tight-lining, some mascara, and an MLBB is pretty much the most you’d see here. I also go minimal when I am feeling very lazy, but most of the time I definitely wear more makeup than an average Belgian. Life is not the same without a punchy lip color!
SHEILA | Canada | Maddy Loves
Right now the trend is contouring and strobing (which is basically just highlighting). The short answer is, I do follow the trends but I’m not crazy over it, i.e. I only have 1-2 products for each purpose. I’ve been contouring for several years now but I think it’s the first time that there are so many contouring products to choose from. I’m absolutely lovingChanel Notorious and Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow for this purpose. Filmstar Bronze & Glow is also great for highlighting as it’s a beautiful, very fine champagne shimmer that looks natural without being glittery.
JAA | Thailand | Hello Jaa
I have not been back to Thailand long enough to know for sure but from my observation, makeup styles that make you look “doll-like” seem to be preferred by Thai women. Circle lens (to make your eyes appear bigger), fluttery lashes, big brows (and tattooed brows) are pretty common. Another thing a lot of Thai women aspire to have is a pale (or white) complexion as I literally see hundreds of skin-whitening products being sold at pretty much every beauty store. I rarely wear circle lens but I do wear falsies and big brows occasionally. Skin whitening is not my priority but I do use some to lighten my acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
