Review & Usage
Alright, I admit. I bought this item purely just for fun! I can see the importance of using charcoal in skincare products to remove impurities from the skin but charcoal-infused cotton swabs? I think it’s gimmicky at best! But alas, here I am, totally got suckered into it. Curiosity is a dangerous thing I tell ya! ;)
Sephora Detox It out: Charcoal Swabs are basically 100% spiral cotton swabs that are infused with charcoal to “help remove dirt and oil“. Each swab is dual-ended; one end is slightly smaller and is meant for precision cleaning, fixing, or removal of makeup while the other end is slightly larger and rounder and is meant for makeup application on larger areas of the face. The black color of the swabs makes it easier for you to see light colors such as eyeshadows and highlighters than traditional white cotton swabs in case you are using them to apply your makeup on-the-go. And don’t worry, the black color of the swabs is not going to rub off on you even when used wet/damp!
There are 30 swabs in the container. The container is made of lightweight plastic material with attached lid so it’s portable as well as user-friendly. To tell you the truth, I didn’t find these swabs to be anything too special. The cottons on these are perhaps slightly more tightly wound than typical cotton swabs so they don’t tend to leave loose strands as much. And with the spiral tip and black color, they definitely look more professional to use but other than that, they are not that superior than regular cotton swabs performance-wise. I will continue using them but probably won’t repurchase! :)
Seems gimmicky!
Totally but hey, they look cool! LOL!
They look cute, good to know they don’t differ that much from regular swabs.
I totally bought these just for the novelty. LOL.
I’d like to have those sitting on my dressing table. They look like rock ‘n’ roll/punk swabs.
LOL! Let’s call them punk swabs! Haha
Gimmicky, sure! But I’d buy it just because it’s black. LOL!
LOL right?!
I totally had a LOL moment when I spotted these on Sephora. I’m surprised we don’t have BB or CC q-tips at this point.
Hahahahahahahahahhahahahaah
I would have probably bought it too! It looks cute though!
Just for the sake of curiosity right?! I mean, you gotta try one!
They are undoubtedly beautiful, lol! How did they come up with is I really don’t know ;) xx

Haha Sephora always has all kinds of weird tools to suck every cent out of our wallet! LOL!
Hi Jaa,
it is such an interesting product. They look so fun. I would rather get the white ones though because I like to see how much of the makeup I removed by looking at it. On these it is hard to see.
I think they wouldn’t sell as well if they came out with the white ones. LOL. Seriously, I think people buy these as novelty items! ;)
oops never seen such things before
even i would have bought it for curiosity sake
Right?! I mean, you gotta try one! ;D
I don’t really care about the charcoal… but they look damn cool. I’m a sucker for packaging and so on, can’t help myself.
Me, too! LOL! Makes two of us! ;)
You’re not alone in this. I buy cheap gimmicky stuff esp with implements :P
I buy brown paper towels. Odd shaped cotton pads. Name it.
Haha you should make a blog post of all the odd things you’ve bought!!!
I want to see the person that has a coating of volatile organic contaminants on their face that necessitates a charcoal purification step, LOL! I suppose you could say it takes off the PAHs from car exhaust? (Like soap does, to be fair). :-D
Maybe they’ll make some EDTA swabs to go with them next time?
The black coloured cotton buds are very chic though :-D
Hey whatever sells! ;) Just look at me. I should know better but still. Haha.
