My Top 10 Favorite Summer 2014 Makeup

Today’s post may be a little unexpected but I just can’t bring myself to believe that my favorite season is officially over! :( When everyone else seems to already be talking about Fall makeup, I thought I’d round up my top 10 favorite products that I have discovered and loved this past season! You know, just to hold on to Summer for one more day!

1. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (review | $20 | Nordstrom)

I still cannot believe it took me so long to discover this cult favorite product! A heavy-duty concealer that provides maximum coverage while providing a skin-like finish! I am still blown away by its performance every time I use it. Its liquid texture is perfect for the under eye area but I also use it to cover blemishes on the other parts of my face as well. The pump is a little painful to use but I’m slowly getting better at it!

2. Simplehuman Sensor Mirror (review | $200 | Nordstrom)

I have become dependent on this mirror since I received it! I love how the LED ring light disperses the light evenly and smoothly so I can see my face illuminated without any dimmed spots. Another great feature? The hands-free system! It’s extremely convenient not having to touch the on-off button. The light comes on automatically when it detects your face in front of the mirror! :D

3. Chanel Écriture de Chanel Eyeliner Pen (review | $35 | Nordstrom)

At first I thought the tip was a little too stiff but the more I use it, the more I like it! It is incredibly easy to draw sharp and perfect wings with this liner. It has enough give so you can flick the tip easily but it also has enough firmness that the tip won’t become too soft or fray too easily over time. The black is intense and provides a beautiful finish with subtle shine that lasts throughout the wear without smudging! Perfect for oily lids!

4. Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Summer Bronzer SPF 15 (review | $64 | Nordstrom)

Liquid Summer Bronzer was my life-saver this summer! I had a strong tan when I came back from my visit to Thailand and it was frustrating to find out that all of my foundations had become too light for my skin! With this product, I can simply mix a few drops with my foundation to darken the shade. So easy, so simple, so effective! Now I can use my favorite foundation all year round! It also provides a subtle glow to the skin, too. Nothing but love for Liquid Summer Bronzer! :)

5. Make Up For Ever Artist Palette (review | $42 | Sephora)

What a great way to try several shades of the new reformulated MUFE eyeshadows for a fraction of the cost! Artist Palette has some really fun and beautiful jewel-toned colors that I love as well as a few neutral shades. The new formula is such a dream to work with; smooth, creamy, soft, and buttery. Not to mention that every single shade is crazy-pigmented with excellent blendability! The palette also comes with 2 mini brushes that are actually usable and handy for on-the-go application!

6. LORAC Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette (review | $42 | Amazon)

This has to be my favorite big eyeshadow palette of the summer season! It contains 16 eyeshadows (half matte and half shimmer) in both colorful as well as neutral shades. I love Lorac eyeshadows in general. They are crazy soft and incredibly pigmented. The colors are true-to-pan and have excellent staying power. The mattes are soft and smooth, the shimmers are sophisticated and flattering. Both textures complement each other really well in an eye look. The powder tends to get kicked up a little too easily, though (common to most Lorac eyeshadows), but nothing like a light tap of the brush can’t fix! :)

7. Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pop Eye Stick (review | $28 | Sephora)

I can’t get enough of this eye stick! There are two things that I love most about this product. First is its cooling effect! It just feels so nice and refreshing on the lid! :) The second is the loud sparkly effect! The color I have is Au Revoir — a beautiful “pewter shimmer“ that I can apply as a base or place on top of my eyeshadow to add that special extra oomph! The formula is incredibly soft, too, and basically just glides on the skin without any resistance!

8. Hourglass 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner (review | $16-$45 | Sephora)

I am one of the lucky ones that this liner doesn’t smudge on! The reviews are mixed but for me, this is hands down the best and most convenient gel liner I have used to date. I just love how the tip is so precise that it can easily reach between the lash roots. Not only is it perfect for drawing thin (and thick) lines, it’s also great for tightlining and safe for contact lens wearers. The black is intense and does not fade during wear. The only downside is there is so little product inside. My last one lasted only 32 uses but I still love it so much that last week I decided to splurge on the 3-pack!

9. YSL Blush Voluptè Heart Of Light Powder Blush (review  | $47 | Nordstrom)

These days it takes a lot for me to really fall in love with any blushes. This new blush from YSL, however, was a true love at first swipe! From the elegant packaging to the ingenious block design of the blush itself, everything about it screams luxury! It even smells nice! I’ve become so addicted to the scent that sometimes I rush through my makeup routine so I can apply this blush sooner. LOL. Light 03 is the perfect color, too. It’s a pink with purple undertones — so pretty. The sheer-to-medium pigmentation doesn’t require any skills to apply — perfect for morning rush!

10. Fresh Sugar Tulip Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 (review | $22.50 | Sephora)

Speaking of morning rush, Fresh Sugar Tulip is what I grab to achieve that sheer pink tinted lip look! The soft and balmy formula glides on effortlessly and leaves just enough pink to enhance my natural lip color. I love Fresh lip products for their sweet sugary lemony scent. I find it so refreshing! :) The wear time isn’t the greatest with Tulip but reapplying is easy to do. The only sad thing about it right now is it’s not moisturizing enough to use in colder months. It’s going to be a long wait till next summer when I get to use it again!

And that’s it for my top 10 favorite summer products! :) What about you? Do you have any favorite items that you used religiously this past summer?

Love this post — I too can’t believe summer is over! Liquid Summer also quickly became one of my top HG makeup products of all time. I also loved using MJ eyeliners this summer, given that they’re so smudgeproof!

My favorite products of the summer have been:

    – Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer
    – Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm (mixed with the above illuminizer!)
    – NARS Audacious Lipsticks (I have Jane, Janet, and Fanny so far!)
    – Everything Boscia! The new kojnac sponges, the makeup breakup cleansing oil, the white/blue/black masks, everything!
    – Also everything LUSH – and all kinds of natural, gentle skincare in general.
    – BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer
    – MUFE Mist & Fix

GREAT list, Laura! The UD BB cream mixed with illuminizer sounds good. I will give it a try! How is your eye btw? Is it getting better?

      1. says: Laura

I love the illuminizer so much, I’ve been mixing it with whichever foundation I’m using at the moment!

My eye is getting better so quickly! I started the antibiotic ointment on Monday morning and this morning when I woke up, my eye was almost back down to regular! Whew, what a relief. I can’t wait to be able to wear eyeshadow and stuff again!

        1. says: Jaa

Yay! I’m glad to hear, Laura! Yep, antibiotics do work fast! I hope you are wearing blue eyeshadows already today!!! ;D

I know right? Where did summer go? :(

I’m with you about the Hourglass liner! SO awesome! I also loved Dior Matte Cinnamon. It’s perfect for my summer skin tone!

    1. says: Jaa

Yay! Have you finished your HG liner yet? I did mine a couple of weeks ago! :D How many uses did you get out of it? Dior Matte Cinnamon looks awesome on you, so natural. I still remember your review and FOTD! :D

      1. says: Sunny

Nope LOL I haven’t even finished one! I’m saving that PRECIOUS thing for when I’m really running out of time or traveling! Like I said, I think it’s really really great, but I can’t make it my go-to because of the price. I do also fill my waterline/base of the lashes in with it sometimes too though :)

        1. says: Jaa

I know right? I wish I could use it any time I want to without any restriction, too. Le sigh! Why so expensive Hourglass?!

  4. My favourite item of the summer would be my NARS tinted moisturizer. I love that stuff so much, and I’ll probably continue using it in the winter on days when I’m in a rush or don’t need much coverage.

I need to try MAC Pro Longwear concealer. I hear so many great things and I really don’t know why I haven’t gotten around to it yet.

    1. says: Jaa

Oh yes the Nars TM! I’ve been loving it all summer, too! I find it to have a really good coverage, though, even when applied in thin layer! :D

STOP SHOWING ME THAT BLUSH, DAMMIT!
    … and the Chanel eyeliner
    …and the Hourglass eyeliner
    … and the MUFE palette
    …and the LORAC palette

I’ll just be over here sharpening my daggers or something….

    :-P

Hehe, at least i have one thing – we’re going into Spring and Summer here! :-D

..yeah, still envious of your makeupz ;-)

  6. says: Lily

OK that mirror. I need it!!!!! But $200? That’s a lot.
It’s perpetually summer here, so seasonal makeup doesn’t really apply to me. Furthermore, who cares about the rules? I’d wear orange in winter if I feel like it. LOL!
