Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer Review & Swatches

For a little tube of concealer, it sure has a pretty mouthful name! :D Urban Decay Spring 2015 Collection brought us quite a few new goodies, one of them being a liquid concealer that promises a second skin-like finish while still being full-coverage. Bold name, bold claim! Well then, let’s put it to the test!

The new Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer is like a baby sister to the Naked Skin Foundation (review) when it comes to the outside packaging. They both feature the same double-walled, clear plastic tube with a metallic gunmetal cap. They also have the same scent — something slightly chemical and alcohol-y (Butylene Glycol is listed as the third ingredient). Speaking of ingredients, this concealer is packed with extra benefits! It is enriched with Matrixyl 3000 which contains peptides to help with the skin’s elasticity and Japanese green tea to minimize fine lines. It also contains lychee fruit extracts and sodium hyaluronate to keep the skin moisturized and hydrated throughout wear. :)

The concealer has a flattened flocked applicator that feels extra soft and smooth on the skin and it picks up just the right amount of product, too! There are 8 shades available in the line-up: Fair Neutral, Light Neutral, Light Warm, Medium Light Neutral, Medium Neutral, Medium Dark Neutral, Medium Dark Warm, and Dark Neutral. I picked up Medium Light Neutral since it seems to be the closest match to my current skin. It is slightly paler and less yellow (more neutral) than my Naked Skin Foundation Shade 4.0 but when used together on the face, the shade difference becomes unnoticeable.

When it comes to concealers, I have my expectations. For starters, I expect it to be smooth, lightweight, blendable, buildable, and spreadable. Luckily, this concealer ticks all the boxes! I can honestly say that it easily has the smoothest and most lightweight texture of all the concealers I have in my collection! Seriously, it’s unbelievable how smooth it is. It glides on so well, never tugs, never pulls, and with a little dabbing, it blends seamlessly into the skin and leaves the most desirable natural-looking results with a long-lasting demi-matte finish!

In terms of coverage, I don’t think it covers as well as my trusty MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (review). It has a medium coverage to start with but you can certainly build it to full. However, here comes the unexpected discovery. In my experience, this concealer is a little tricky to use under the eye area! For some reason I seem to have the opposite experience to everyone else. All the reviews I have read, they report zero settling into fine lines but whenever I use it under my eyes to cover my dark circles, it always, always settles into my baby fine lines! I’m not sure why but I suspect it has something to do with the formula being so creamy and lightweight. But it is easy to fix, though! To get rid of the creasing, I just follow with a small fluffy brush and simply blend it out until I achieve a flawless finish. Once I fix this, the coverage seems to stay flawless and crease-free all day. :)

While it takes a little work to make it work as an under eye concealer, I have had much better results when using it on other areas on the face. For example, it is amazing at covering the redness around my nose, mouth, and chin. It also covers acne scars on my cheeks really well without making them look dry or flaky. And when I extend the application down to the inner cheek area, it seems to have a slight pore-blurring effect, too. And this, I !

Since it has a rather matte finish, you can probably skip the setting step but I always set my makeup to keep everything in place. Overall, I am quite pleased with the performance of this concealer. Yes, it would be nice if it worked from the get-go under my eyes but as I mentioned, it barely takes a small effort to get rid of the initial creasing issue. Rather than that, I really don’t have any other disadvantages to say about it. I especially recommend it to those who prefer minimal concealing or those who are in the market for a creamy and lightweight concealer that doesn’t cake, crease, or budge during the day. :)

Oh you’ll love the smooth and lightweight feeling, too, Erin! That’s actually what drew me to it in the first place!

Aww thanks, Shellie! :) I might not need under eye concealing but I do need face concealing for sure! Too many acne scars. :(

Jaa, what dark circles? Are you kidding me! The formula sounds so good. And a pore-blurring effect? No way! I don’t even have that obvious pores, but sounds amazing for those who have!

Girl I’d take your dark circles over my horrendous ones any day!
But I’m glad you can make this work for you, it looks really weightless and natural! :)

I swatched it at Ulta over the weekend and I loved how it felt on my hand. It was really creamy and lightweight. I am not sure if you have anything to conceal pretty lady but I will trust you that it works. I might splurge on this one. Have you checked out the new Naked powder foundation? It feels so smooth too and I kinda want it, lol.

Right? It’s ridiculously creamy and smooth!! As for the powder foundation, I swatched it and loved it, too! But I have so many powder foundations I am trying to finish right now. Maybe some time in the future! :)

Hey Agata! I’m sorry but I don’t remember what lipstick I’m wearing here but I know for sure the layering gloss with gold bits is Maybelline Elixir in Glistening Amber! :)

  4. Oooh I am very tempted by this one. The shade looks like an exact match for you. Since I am a little dry under my eyes sometimes the “matte” ones look very dry and cakey on me. So the rule is try before buy :-)

Oh no! I always have problems with concealers creasing under my eyes and if this one does it it’s such bad news… At the moment the only concealer that’s hydrating and covering enough for me without creasing is Diorskin Star, but I still want to try this when it comes out here… But I will probably ask for a sample. I really wanted to give my summer Naked foundation the matching concealer, lol! :) xx

That might be one of the reasons why I bought this concealer… so that my Naked foundie will have someone to play with! LOL!

I have the foundation in shade 3 which is a dead on match for my skin tone. From my experience, I have quite a strong yellow tone to my skin but the light warm might be too light for face blemishes…what color would you recommend I get? #undecided #torn

    >_< As a person who loves UD stuff and is always on the hunt for a good concealer, I am SORELY tempted by this! I wish they sold it here – I can order it online no problem, but I can never try shades out!! I mean, I'm probably the lightest shade (always a safe bet), but still ;-)

You should be ashamed of yourself…trying to model a concealer for under eyecircles when you have none :p Good thing your description was so good lol. I do feel an overwhelming urge to have this!!

    1. says: Jaa

Haha I do have them! Serious! They are just not very obvious on camera. ;D I think you’ll really love it, Dee. GREAT texture and performance!

Yayyy! Would love to know if you love it! I’m also expecting a FULL REVIEW on your blog! hehehe ((((((((((Dee))))))))))
