Urban Decay's new addition to the Naked line features the Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss and the Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder. Just when I thought we couldn't possibly get any more naked! :D I'll be reviewing just the lip gloss today because I think the loose powder deserves its own post (expect the review later this week or early next week!).

The lip gloss is available in 9 fabulous shades! And good news – all are permanent colors! :D Looking from the packaging alone, you'd think each color differs significantly from each other, and it does when swatched on arm, but on my naturally pigmented lips, the shade difference is barely noticeable. But if you have pale lips, I think you will benefit more from the color selection (and I couldn't be more happy for you!).
Since all of them look pretty much identical on me, I chose to settle with the one color that speaks to me the most: Lovechild, which is a beautiful creamy almost baby doll pink. :)

The gloss comes in a really appealing rose-gold packaging! With the Naked cutout in the middle of the overshell, and the clear window at the bottom of the tube so you can easily spot the shade, it is unlike anything I've seen and it makes the product that much more interesting. :) The applicator is a tapered doe-foot that is slightly longer than most lip gloss applicator.
Another thing I noticed about the packaging is a small transparent chamber near the opening of the tube. My guess is that it acts as a gloss reservoir. When the gloss is brand new, the chamber will be clean and clear of any gloss, but as soon as you pull out the wand for the first time, it will be filled with the product — a nice way of telling if the tube has been tampered with (see two photos above). The chamber also works as a stopper to prevent the gloss from coming out too much. Or maybe it's none of the two reasons and I'm just over-analyzing it! :D

The formula contains Hyaluronic Filling Spheres, Vitamin E, avocado oil, and Shea butter to condition and help lips stay hydrated. Also part of the ingredient list is Rosehip seed oil to provide an extra hit of Vitamins A and C. This gloss feels exactly what the name suggests: ultra nourishing!
With its gel-like texture, the gloss applies and glides on very smoothly on the lips. I noticed the product settling into lip lines just a bit but it goes away when I press my lips together. Contrary to most reviews, I do find the formula quite sticky. Not really a deal-breaker for me because if anything, it contributes to the longevity. I also feel its presence on the lips during wear so it's not exactly featherlight, but it doesn't feel heavy, either.
What I like most about this gloss is how it makes my lips look instantly full and plump with a super glossy finish! While the pigmentation is on a sheer side, the shiny finish is not! It wears longer than most lip glosses, too. I do get about 4 hours with the glossy effect intact and from there it starts to fade gradually. There is no drying feeling after the gloss has vanished. My lips continue to stay moisturized and soft, which isn't something I can speak of most glosses.
One thing, though. One small thing that bothers me — the scent. It has this very sweet, chemically minty scent to it that is quite overpowering! I am not really a fan but good news is it dissipates quickly upon application! Phew. :)

As much as I enjoy the moisturizing property and the glass-like glossy appearance that the gloss provides, I can't help but wish the color payoff was just a bit stronger. I understand that the sheer tint of color is probably meant to compliment the “Naked” range where everything is supposed to look like “my skin/lips but better” but I would prefer my gloss to provide a little more than a glossy finish when worn on its own, too.
So, for pigmented lips, I think this will look better as a layering gloss over a lipstick, and you can probably get away with just one color because chances are they will all look the same on you. But for pale lips, feel free to go crazy and grab a few or more! :)

I got this in Liar and I like it. The packaging is so beautiful. The scent and taste are definitely chemical-y, I thought I was the only one who thought that! And it is a bit sticky and semi-heavy. It wasn’t exactly as I was expecting, but I still like it. Knowing how sheer they are, though, I definitely feel like I don’t need every shade.
Wow, we seem to have the exact same experience with this gloss! We definitely don’t need more than one shade! :)
Can’t wait for your review on the NAKED loose powder!!!! :D
Yay! I’m testing it out right now! :D
I love the photos and the review! Your photography is magazine-worthy and makes makeup look so delicious. I had to laugh at your comment, “Just when I thought we couldn’t possibly get any more naked!”
I picked up the loose powder just today; I can’t wait to try it.
LOL I mean, seriously, I’m naked-ed out!!!! Also thank you so much for your sweet comment! Please share with me once you’ve tried the powder. I’d like to know how it works out for you! :)
Your blog is absolutely beautiful! I love all of the photos. I think I need to add this lipgloss to my collection! Xx
Thank you so much, Angela! You’re so kind! :)
I’ve liked these shades, but I have pigmented lips so I’m afraid of what so many warm toned lip glosses would look like on me. I think the formula sounds amazing though!
Love the formula but not so much for the color payoff! :D
I feel like there is no need for me to review mine because you just nailed everything I felt like saying about it! AND we both got the same shade, lol! We are 2 peas in a pod! I get the whole Naked element of these, but I wish they had a TAD more pigment. Lovechild was the one I kept looking at and ended up buying during the Friends & Fanatics sale for 20% off. I like it, but it’s not a must-have. I don’t care for the mint scent either!
Kristen! Please do a review! It doesn’t matter if I have reviewed it! I enjoy your writing so much that I will read anything! :D
You are lucky to get it with a 20% off! I bought it before the sale! Boo!
Oh my gosh, Jaa! You are TOO kind! Thank you. Your comment made my day!
I think UD is very smart at milking the Naked line.. and the Naked lipglosses are truly beautiful. I mean those packages.. wow. But the differences in color are sooooo subtle. Still… I bought one: “Streak” and I chose it because that color was most visible on my lips.. :) but if a nude-ish lipgloss isn’t that visible, then it becomes pointless for me to get it (might as well go for a transparent one).. especially for such a price. Still.. I do love “Streak” haha ^^
LOL yeah…. don’t you wonder what they will come out next for their Naked line! Whatever it is I’m actually looking forward to it. Haha.
