Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild is well known for their awesome 3-pan and 6-pan eyeshadow palettes (which I will be reviewing shortly) but for today, I’ll be talking briefly about their blushers which I think are just as good. :)

I never really know how to write their brand name correctly – I’ve seen all kinds of variations: Wet n Wild, Wet n Wild, Wet n’ Wild, Wet ‘n’ Wild?! On the product packaging, it looks like Wet n Wild, but on their website, they write Wet n Wild so I’m really confused. I’m probably paying too much attention to this .. but my point is I would be a little put off if someone didn’t write my brand name properly…

Eh… let’s get to the product at hand, shall we?

These blushes are dirt cheap! They are only $2.99 a piece and most of the time they are on sale for half price. When a product is this cheap, you really can’t expect the packaging to be high quality. Wet n Wild blushes are housed in a plain black palette with clear lid that you can see the color inside. Shade name is printed on a sticker on the lid. The palette feels very fragile and I don’t think it will hold up well in a makeup bag. It is lightweight and thin, though, so it’s great for storage. I think it’s better to depot them into a separate magnetic palette if you plan to travel with them.

Each palette includes a slanted mini brush which I’m not too crazy about since it is very poor quality. The bristles are course and don’t pick up or apply product very well. They don’t feel scratchy to me, though. They are just not soft.

They come in 4 shades:

  • 831E Pearlescent Pink – your everyday basic peachy pink with fine gold shimmer
  • 832E Heather Silk – matte medium pink
  • 833E Mellow Wine – matte dusty coral pink (my favorite)
  • 834E Berry Shimmer (I didn’t pick up as it leans too red for my taste)

The quality of these blushes I have to say is pretty decent for the price! They are not buttery soft and smooth but they are reasonably pigmented and I think all three colors that I picked up are gorgeous color with good color payoff. They are a little bit dry and powdery but they do last all day on my skin.

Pearlescent Pink is very easy to apply, it’s the least pigmented but is buildable. On my medium skin, I have to apply at least 3 layers before the color shows up to what I like. The shimmer looks to be chunky in the pan and on arm swatch but once applied on the skin it’s quite subtle. It actually gives this sort of a light little glow to the cheeks and I quite like the effect!

Heather Silk is the patchy one. It’s the most pigmented but unfortunately the hardest to blend. It’s a really cute pop of color, though! I find myself applying with the lightest hand when using this color and usually a light brush of a brush is more than plenty for the color to show up on my skin. Definitely start with the smallest amount and gradually build up the color to the desired intensity.

Mellow Wine is a gorgeous color and looks so natural on my skin. It’s one of those “healthy flush” color and the good part? It blends better than Heather Silk. If you like more of a natural, matte-looking flush, I think this is definitely the color to pick up.

I like to apply these blushes with my own blush brush and not with the included brush for a better control and more even application. I gently dab my brush into a pan to avoid kicking up the powder and apply subtly to my cheeks for just a flush of color but if you want to go dramatic, just add more. The most important step is to blend, blend and blend so there are no hard edges on the cheeks especially for the shade Heather Silk.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Blushers are really affordable and I’m actually quite impressed with their pigmentation. The packaging leaves a lot of room for improvement but that can easily be overlooked considering how cheap they are and how well they perform. I just wish Wet n Wild would add more colors to the line, though. Four colors is such a limited range and one out of four already I’m not interested. Maybe something a little less pink, less coral, but more “nude” would be nice. :)

Thank you so much, Emi! :) I try to “re-discover” my old favorites once in a while but with the new stuff coming out everyday it’s hard to do ha ha.

Awesome post, very helpful. I was thinking about getting pearlescent pink, but now due to your review I might grab mellow wine instead

Can’t find anywhere CVS, Rite AIDS or Target, Walgreens? I wonder if is the same color as Heather silk which is beautiful and Perlecent Pink gorgeous too! Love them all! The ombre ones are very soft! ❤️

Fantastic Plastic Pink is PRETTY! Looks to me like it’s a dupe for Too Faced Justify My Love. Good luck hunting it down! Although you may have already found it by now. :)
